Something else noted, related or not I can't say, are game freezes.
1. They happen regularly, at the finish line, at the end of a race in Free Tracks
2. They happen randomly, at any position in a race, in Free Tracks
3. Repeated freezes often result in an app crash.

Thank you, console log copy attached. Two app crashes in the space of 30 minutes this (Sat) morning.

This has been reported before, but quite some time ago. I am getting crashes in the game on a regular basis, sometimes two or three times daily. I send at least one crash report to Apple each time it happens, but if it repeats, I do not bother. Apple does not acknowledge or reply to crash reports anyway.

This used to happen on my eMac 1.25 under OS Tiger, but it's got much worse on my Mini, 2.4 GHz, with OS S Leopard 10.6.8.

I can't be sure, since this is the first time I've copied the error message, but it looks like this (whatever it means) is the cause: <paste>

I usually go all the way to the finish line then stay there and crash the first car coming. It's funny.  Smiley

This is an excellent way to see who ACTUALLY finishes second and third (in Free Tracks). You have to be careful not to cross the finish line though, and the banner stretching across sometimes hinders the view.

The Rise & Rise of Humphrey

Maybe it's just the game version I have, maybe I'm a conspiracist, but I wonder if other MiniOne racers have noticed how - coincidentally - a racer named Humphrey (H) manages, more often than not, to finish either second, or first (if you happen to finish down the order) in Free Tracks.

Another thing - I know darned well that H has gone off the track, or is stuck somewhere, or is behind Rick & Junior, but there in the finish list is H in second place. In addition, after zapping H, or seeing him plunge off the bridge or elevated track. he somehow miraculously gets himself back in the race, and even gets close to or past the other three. He must have amazing luck in finding numerous Boost bonuses!  Wink

Yet more - I know I've crossed the line ahead of H (and sometimes the others), but once again, I'm pipped at the post.   Roll Eyes

Last one - when a race finishes, there is, briefly, a diagram of the circuit, with the colored dots showing where each racer finished. There's H, visibly in 3rd place, sometimes back down the track a way, and not having crossed the finishing line, but he still gets listed as finishing second.  Huh

Any thoughts?

Other slight modifications to those already mentioned:

Yet more variety. In Desert Island, try to get ahead of the other three racers to grab the Levitation tool. Then, proceed to just below the bridge and stop, allowing the other racers to pass you. Wait and watch until all or most of them are at the very top of the bridge, and then activate Levitation. Some spectacular results can occur. You can then get ahead of the bunch. See if you can repeat the fun, but it all depends on the allocation of bonus 'tools'.

Suggestion: try the above in the 50 cc class first, as it's hilarious watching the snail-like progress of the other racers as they try to recover from their mishap.

Other slight modifications to those already mentioned:
1. Apply reverse as soon as a race has started, back up to the corner preceding the start/finish line, wait until the other cars have got a half circuit start on you, and then chase. You can build a up a really good speed, especially in the 200 cc class, challenging your cornering skills, without encountering gremlins. You'll notice too that you get more Action Boosts. Watch out for those black dots!
2. Linger about half a track length behind the other three cars until the final lap, and try to time your sprint for the finish line behind one of the other cars, so that it gets the gremlin obstruction. Often it doesn't pay to take the lead in these races.

Tired of playing (and winning) Racing League and/or Free Tracks? Try:
1. Driving the course in reverse gear,
2. Driving the course in the opposite direction, driving slowly in order to take in the scenery (rather pleasant),
3. Driving the course in the opposite direction for one lap, and then turning to chase the other three cars. You might be surprised at what you find,
3. Driving the course in the oposite direction until you find a really narrow part, wait for the other three cars to arrive, and then blast, or charge at them [the bridge in Desert Island is a good site to choose for this activity].

Wouldn't it be great if one could shoot the gremlins that suddenly pop up to block progress.

Okay, I know they're part of the game, and they can be avoided, but at the 150 (and 200) cc level that can be very hard to do because of the greater number of g's and greater speed.

In the no-guns vehicles one would of course just have to take one's chances.

And here's another hint. In the first race of the first Championship at each level, or Cool Beach in Free Tracks, there is a section of the race where cars must skirt a little yellow plastic island.

Head for the right-hand side of the island and look further to the right. You may see what looks like a white vapour jet (actually moist air from an airbed pump). Head for that, and straight after you pass through it, you may experience a surge of power in the car, like a Powerup. It doesn't work every time, especially in the higher-powered cars, and if there's no vapour jet, don't bother going there. You don't get a lot of time to see the jet, even in high camera mode.

In each league, there are three championships of four races each. I find it odd that a completed race is not, and cannot be saved. Sometimes it is not possible, because of an interruption, to complete all four races in a championship.

I find it irritating, to put it mildly, after a lot of effort to win a race, that when quitting a championship, all race positions are lost, and the next episode of the game reverts to the first race.

Surely the MiniOne writers could put a Save function into the game.

Two incidences of it:
1. When the game is loading, there is no mouse function, eg. to the Dock,
2. Hitting Esc to restart a race can cause the endless message, 'waiting for other players', at which time the game itself locks up, and there is no mouse function to use in Force Quit (although Enter/Return works).

Anyone else experience this issue?

MacOS 10.4.11, eMac 1.25 GHz, paid MiniOne version.

Who else has found it? The shortcut bridge in Desert Island. Soon after the race begins, in either Racing League or Free Tracks, there is a short bridge to the right of the main track. You can cut across that to get ahead of the other racers. Be aware that the short bridge often has the black button on it, but not all the time. Be aware too that as you reach Lap 3, there will be more gremlins waiting at the other side as you exit.

Please post back in this thread if you learn of other 'treats' in any of the other tracks.

I looked under the individual races (where I have a 200cc) option but don't see an extra level, will play some single levels against some bots and see if I can find it...
Like you, and Cole, I wondered where the 200 cc Racing League had got to, but, if you haven't found it already, it's under Free Tracks. Looking forward to it being part of the head-to-head battle. Those other drivers play rough!
